Vocabulario inglés. Tall y high

Tall es un adjetivo. El comparativo es taller y el superlativo es the tallest.
Tall se usa para personas, animales, árboles y edificios.

  • How tall are you? - ¿Cuánto mides?
  • Peter is very tall. - Pedro es muy alto.
  • There are a lot of tall buildings in Tokyo. - Hay muchos edificios altos en Tokio.
  • The Californian Redwood is the tallest tree in the world. - La secoya de California es el árbol más alto del mundo.

High también es un adjetivo con el comparativo higher y el superlativo the highest.
High se usa para montañas y cosas que no están “tocando la tierra”, por ejemplo un avión volando y también cuando hablamos de un nivel superior.
  • Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world. - El Everest es la montaña más alta del mundo.
  • The Bolivian city of Potosí is one of the highest cities in the world, at 4,090 meters above sea level. The peak of Cerro de Potosí, or Cerro Rico, is 800 meters higher than the buildings. - La ciudad boliviana de Potosí es una de las ciudades más altas del mundo, a 4.090 metros sobre el nivel del mar. El pico del Cerro de Potosí, o Cerro Rico, se encuentra a 800 metros por encima de los edificios.
