Listening en inglés. Conversaciones. James talks about his band and the kind of music he plays.

Todd:   So, James, you're in a band!

James: Yes!

Todd:    OK, tell us about your band.

James:  I play in a Swedish Bubblegum Punk Band.

Todd:    Swedish Bubblegum Punk Band. What exactly is that?

James:  I don't know, but that's what it says on the CD.

Todd:    OK. What do you play in your band?

James:  I play bass guitar.

Todd:    OK. How long have you been playing the guitar?

James:  I've been playing the guitar for about 12 or 13 years.

Todd:    Oh, really! OK. Nice. Do you play any other instruments?

James:  I play a little guitar and a little drums.

Todd:    Since you're in a band do you meet lots of women?

James:  Yes.

Todd:    Really! You're a rock star.

James: Yes.

Todd:    Nice. Nice. Do you tour or do you just play where you live?

James:  We just play in clubs. Local clubs.

Todd:    OK. What the best thing about being a musician, in the band?

James:  It's really good for relaxing and having fun.

Todd:    Is it your full-time job?

James:  No, it's not. It's only a hobby.

Todd:   Oh, OK.

Vocabulario y gramática:
Tell us about your band. - Cuéntanos de tu banda.

What exactly is that? - ¿Qué es eso exactamente?

What do you play in your band? - ¿Qué es lo que tocas en la banda?
  Play en inglés puede significar jugar o tocar en español.
    1) play tennis - jugar al tenis
    2) play the guitar - tacar la guitarra  

Para decir cuánto tiempo hace que ocurre una acción, en inglés usamos el Present Perfect. En español se usa el Presente.

• How long have you been playing the guitar? - ¿Cuánto tiempo llevas tocando la guitarra?

• I've been playing the guitar for about 12 or 13 years. - Llevo tocando la guitarra unos 12 o 13 años.
• How long have they been married? - ¿Cuánto tiempo hace que están casados?

Una traducción:
Todd:    Entonces, James, !estás en una banda!
James: ¡Sí!
Todd:    Bueno, cuéntanos tu banda.
James: Toco en una banda de punk bubblegum sueco.
Todd:    Banda sueca Punk Bubblegum. ¿Qué es eso exactamente?
James: No lo sé, pero eso es lo que dice en el CD.
Todd:    OK. ¿Qué es lo que tocas en la banda?
James: Yo toco el bajo.
Todd:    OK. ¿Cuánto tiempo llevas tocando la guitarra?
James: Llevo tocando la guitarra unos 12 o 13 años.
Todd:    ¿Ah, sí! de verdad. ¡Que bien!  ¿Tocas algún otro instrumento?
James: Yo toco un poco de guitarra (acústica) y un poco de tambores.
Todd:    Ya que estás en una banda, ¿te encuentras con un montón de mujeres?
James: Si.
Todd:    !En serio! Eres una estrella de rock.
James: Si.
Todd:    ¡Que bien! ¡Que bien!  ¿Hacéis giras o tocáis donde vivís?
James: Solo tocamos en clubes. Los clubes locales.
Todd:    OK. ¿Qué es la mejor cosa de ser un músico, en la banda?
James: Es muy bueno para relajarme y divertirme.
Todd:    ¿Es tu trabajo de jornada completa?
James: No, no lo es. Es sólo un hobby.
Todd:    ¡Oh, está bien!
