Still y anymore

Vocabulario. Still, not ... anymore, not … any longer, no longer. aún, todavía, ya no.

Still - aún / todavía / seguir

Still va por delante de todos los verbos, menos con el verbo to be.

sujeto + still + verbo +

  • I still work with them. - Todavía trabajo con ellos.
  • We still haven’t had dinner. - Aún no hemos cenado.

Con el verbo to be tenemos la estructura;

sujeto + to be + still +  …

  • It is still raining. - Aún / Todavía está lloviendo.
  • He is still in hospital after the accident.

Podemos hacer preguntas para ver si una acción continúa, o no. La estructura será;
Do / Does + sujeto + still + verbo (que no sea to be o modal) +  … ?

  • Do you still live with Anne? - ¿Todavía vives con Anne? / ¿Sigues viviendo con Anne?
  • Does she still go jogging on sundays? - ¿Sigue haciendo footing los domingos?

Si el verbo es el verbo to be o model, no usamos el verbo auxiliar to do.
Is / are o model + sujeto + verbo +

  • Is she still in London? - ¿Está todavía en Londres?
  • Can you still come with us this weekend?

not … anymore, not …  any longer, no longer. = ya no
Usamos not... anymore, not... any longer y no longer para decir que una situación ha cambiado.

  • I don’t eat there anymore / any longer. - Ya no como allí.
  • Jane doesn’t live there anymore / any longer. She moved last year.

  • Most of my friends no longer play football.
  • Her husband is no longer unemployed.
