Was / were


El Past simple del verbo to be corresponde al pretérito indefinido o el pretérito imperfecto de ser y estar. El verbo tiene dos formas was y were como puedes ver en la tabla abajo.

Ejemplos:
Last month they were in London. - Ellos estuvieron en Londres el mes pasado.
He was ill last week. - La semana pasada él estuve enfermo.
We were all tired last night. - Estámamos cansados anoche.
When I was a child Y was thin. - Cuando era niño estaba delgado.

I was not         = I wasn’t he was not       = he wasn’t she was not     = She was not it was not         = it wasn’t	was	I? he? she? it?
we were not   = we weren’t they were not = they weren’t	were	we? they?

Ejemplos:
We weren’t there when the film started last night. - No estábamos cuando la película empezó anoche.
Where were you yesterday? - ¿Dónde estuve ayer?
Were you a student at London University? - ¿Eras estudiante en la Universidad de Londres?
